Top 10 Selling Cars In November 2018

The top 10 selling cars in November 2018 saw Maruti Suzuki Alto deposed to fourth position with Swift leading at front

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has endured a cumulative domestic sales of 1,16,793 units in November 2018 with 1 percent YoY sales growth. Although the auto industry as a whole could not register anticipated volume increase during the festive season, Maruti Suzuki managed to garner 44.3 percent market share with 1.8 percent sales jump compared to the same month last year.

However, the tables have turned a bit within the brand’s lineup. The new generation Swift hatchback sat at the top of the monthly sales chart with 22,191 unit sales as the mainstay topper Alto slipped back to fourth position. Alto regained the leading position in October 2018 only to give it back to Swift this month.

3. Maruti Suzuki Baleno 18,649

9. Hyundai Grand i10   9,252
10. Hyundai Santro   9,009

The Swift’s subcompact sedan sibling, the Dzire, was positioned second with a total of 21,037 units in November 2018. Sandwiching the Dzire and Alto was Baleno as the premium hatchback registered 18,649 unit sales. It ended up third with just six deliveries more than the Alto entry-level small car.

When compared to its main rival Hyundai Elite i20, which slotted in at seventh, the Baleno sold nearly 8,100 units more. Another key point to take from the top 10 finishers is that Hyundai now has four models reaping high volumes. The recently launched Santro eliminated Maruti Suzuki Celerio out of the top 10 last month with 9,009 units and its momentum is expected to continue in the coming months.

Looking elsewhere, the Vitara Brezza finished in fifth to stay put as the best-selling SUV in the country with 14,378 units. The long-serving WagonR will receive a brand new generation upgrade in early 2019 and last month 11,311 units were retailed to end up sixth. It is going to be the biggest makeover for the tall riding hatchback ever.

The Creta, on the other hand, will be facing increased competition next year and it finished eighth with 9,677 unit sales ahead of Grand i10 at 9,252 units. With new year approaching, several launches are being lined up especially in the premium segments.
